The Marcegaglia Group – active in Turkey with a plant for the
production of welded tubes and stainless steel profiles at Ergene in Tekirdag – has responded to the
humanitarian call to offer concrete help to the populations affected by the severe earthquake that destroyed
the territories of Turkey and Syria last week.
The Group, through Fondazione Marcegaglia, the non-profit organisation set up in 2010 by the Mantuabased entrepreneur family, has decided to donate the sum of 10 thousand euro to UNICEF. The funds will
be allocated to a number of immediate intervention objectives: providing first aid kits, food and blankets;
guaranteeing access to drinking water and sanitation, protecting children and setting up shelters for families
that have lost their homes.
In addition, the Company, through its subsidiary Marcegaglia Turkey, which has been active since 2014,
decided to allocate an additional 20 thousand euro to AFAD, the authority set up by the Turkish government
for disaster and emergency management, which works to plan and coordinate the post-disaster response
and promote cooperation between the various government agencies.
